Vivah Movie Plot
Meet Poonam, a sweet and simple girl from a small town called Madhupur in Uttar Pradesh. Her parents passed away when she was young, and her uncle Krishnakant became like a father figure to her. But there’s a twist – Krishnakant’s wife Rama isn’t exactly fond of Poonam. You see, Rama’s own daughter Rajni isn’t as fair or beautiful as Poonam, and that makes Rama feel a bit funny.
Surprisingly, Poonam and Rajni become best buddies and treat each other like sisters. Meanwhile, in Delhi, there’s a big-shot businessman named Harish Chandra Bajpayee. He’s got two sons: Sunil, who’s already married, and Prem, the quiet and well-educated one.
Now, Poonam’s goodness catches the eye of Bhagat, a jeweler who’s friends with Krishnakant. Bhagat thinks Poonam would be a great match for Prem. So, he talks to Harish about it. But Prem is a bit hesitant. He’s all about building his career right now. Harish suggests he meet Poonam first and then decide.
Guess what? Prem agrees! He goes to meet Poonam, and guess what happens? They hit it off instantly! They both like each other’s company, and before you know it, they’re engaged.
Krishnakant invites the Bajpayee family over to their vacation spot in Som Sarovar. This is where things get really interesting! Prem and Poonam spend time together, and they’re having the best time ever. They’re falling in love, and it’s all super romantic.
But wait, there’s a twist again. The Bajpayee family has to rush back home for an urgent business meeting. Prem and Poonam are left chatting on the phone and sending letters to each other.
When they return, they throw a big party to celebrate Prem’s successful business project and Poonam’s first visit. But you know what’s not so cool? Rama is upset and jealous. She hides in her room during the celebration, and that’s when things get real.
Krishnakant confronts Rama about her behavior and tells her how unfair she’s been to Poonam. He points out that she’s the only one who’s ever had a problem with Poonam.
Just when things are getting all wedding-prep exciting, a fire breaks out at Poonam’s house. She manages to get out, but she realizes Rajni is still inside. Brave as ever, Poonam rushes back in, saves Rajni, but gets badly burnt.
Doctors say it’s a tough situation, and families sometimes abandon their own in cases like this. But guess what? Rama suddenly realizes how wrong she’s been all along. She feels super bad for treating Poonam poorly.
Poonam’s uncle Bhagatji calls Prem, who’s on his way to Madhupur for the wedding. He’s about to sign a paper that would allow her surgery, but he breaks down. Prem rushes in, determined to marry Poonam no matter what. He even brings the best doctors from Delhi.
He marries Poonam before her surgery, and thankfully, the doctors do a great job fixing her up. After the surgery, they have a traditional wedding and start their new life together.
At their wedding night, something really sweet happens – Prem gently cares for Poonam’s burns. The film ends on a happy note, with a kiss, and it’s just the start of their married life full of love and care.

Vivah Movie Soundtrack
The mesmerizing soundtrack of Vivah, including both songs and the background score, was meticulously crafted by Ravindra Jain. This marked Jain’s seventh collaboration with Rajshri Productions, and the music was released under the Saregama label. Jain’s composition approach focused on the rhythmic “taal,” often featuring two “antras” followed by a “mukhra” in the songs. The orchestral arrangement blended classical Indian instruments like sitar, sarod, violin, dholak, and tabla, creating a harmonious fusion of classical Western and Indian music.
The full soundtrack album was unveiled on September 26, 2006. While the songs were well-received, some criticism was directed towards the music for its perceived monotony and similarity in instrument choices and arrangements. Rediff.com’s music review expressed disappointment in the music’s execution, and Glamsham’s Nofil gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars, noting that it didn’t match the success of other Rajshri family classics like “Maine Pyar Kiya,” “Hum Aapke Hain Koun,” and “Hum Saath-Saath Hain.”
